The Younger Years

As a child, I was fortunate to grow up surrounded by the arts. As a dancer, whether it was jazz, tap, ballet, lyrical, hip hop…you name it — I was performing on stage. As a young dancer, I was able to express myself with an outlet I loved but like all things, there was a dark side. You see, with dance, your body is your instrument and is constantly in the spotlight. Pair that environment with low self-esteem and it’s a recipe for an eating disorder.

Throughout my teenage years and well into my 20’s, I only saw food as the enemy. Eat less, move more…to be skinny is to be healthy. That was the motto I lived by, which had me trying every crash-diet out there. From cutting out sugar to carbs to entire food groups — I had reached a point where I was at the gym twice a day, barely surviving off of 1,000 calories and hating myself anytime I fell ‘off the wagon’ binging my way to a food coma…

The Turning Point

The binge-restrict cycle, yo-yo diet, insane weight fluctuation lifestyle had become my life. If I wasn’t eating, I was obsessing over what I was going to eat or not eat next. I would turn down invitations to social gatherings if it meant going over my calories. I told myself I had to be a certain weight before I could go on vacation or go on dates. I was extreme.

In 2018, I realized I couldn’t do it anymore.

I knew there had to me more to life than the number on the scale and that there were far too many delicious ways to eat that it didn’t make sense to commit myself to boiled chicken, broccoli and sweet potatoes for the rest of my life. At this point, I invested in education and enrolled in a nutrition program with Precision Nutrition. What started out as a way to heal myself, turned into a fire that now cannot be put out. I had done it. Found the harmony. By educating myself on nutrition and realizing the powerful source that food is, I started living the life I wanted to live, eating the food I enjoy, and reaching new heights with my health.

The Calling

And then it dawned on me. I had to share this with anyone who was ready to hear. My practice started with 1:1 clients and within months of seeing transformations take place, I knew I wanted to design a program that could bring humans together to expand their knowledge on nutrition, heal their false beliefs on food and guide them to design lifestyles that put their love of food and their desire for health at the forefront.

In 2020, a year that has brought confusion, I launched Nourish & Rise, with the intention to bring clarity.

Knowing what types of food to eat, how much to eat, and how to enjoy your favorite foods while reaching for the level of health that we crave is knowledge that should be accessible to all.

I am not here to give you another cookie-cut meal plan, because I believe your needs are unique.

I am not here to tell you what you can’t eat, because I believe that no foods are off-limits.

I am not here to tell you that food is just carbs fat and protein because I believe that food is family, heritage, and a part of life.

Nourish & Rise is not here to be just another program. Nourish & Rise is here to be the last program you ever need to invest in to finally start living your damn life.

It’s time to break up with diets. Break up with self-sabotaging behavior. Break up with the false beliefs that tell you health is not in the cards for you.

Because it is. Your health is in your hands. And that is my mission, to put you back in the driver seat of your life. I’m ready to rise. Are you?
